We hope you are either enjoying or getting ready to enjoy Spring Break! Happy holidays to all who celebrate Passover and Easter, which is coming up this weekend. Don't forget to check our Annual Events Calendar for some great events like spring photos and Easter Egg Hunts - there are a bunch going on locally this weekend.
If you're decorating Easter Eggs this week, here are some tips to help you out:
- If you are using a kit, make sure to boil your eggs and let them cool completely before dying.

- Liven your eggs up by placing stickers on the egg, then dipping the egg in dye. Let the egg dry completely before removing the stickers and you will have a fun pattern on your egg.
- Consider Natural Easter Egg Dye - some great recipes are on BHG.com.
- To create natural tones, combine the dye source with 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar and some cold water in a saucepan. Add raw eggs (make sure there's enough water to cover the eggs) and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Remember that the longer you simmer, the darker the color will be, but simmer at least 8 minutes so that the eggs cook thoroughly.
- To create a marbled effect, wrap your uncooked eggs in white or purple onion skins or spinach. Use white string to secure the wrap, place the eggs in the foot of an old nylon stocking and tie a knot. Gently boil the stocking and egg in a pot of covered water with 1/2 tablespoon vinegar. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Leave the eggs in the wrap for awhile and when you unwrap them, they will all look different.
- To make Easter Bunny Ears, use food coloring dye or natural dyes to dye eggs in solid colors, then dry them with a paper towel. For each bunny egg, cut two oval shaped ears from colored paper. Glue the ears to the top of the egg and add plastic googly eyes. Use markers to add a small triangle for a nose and some whiskers then glue on a cotton ball for a tail.
Check out the Annual Events Calendar to search upcoming family-friendly events for the Inland Valley. If you know of an upcoming event families should know about, post it to our FREE Annual Events Calendar! It's easy:)
Please tell them you saw it on CVParent.com!
Have a happy, fun-filled weekend!
