A Week of Appreciation For Our Teachers

  From the Editor

Next week is TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK! Our school-age children spend 6-7 hours per day, 5 days a week, 9 months a year with their teachers so it seems important to figure out a way to show them how thankful we are of all that they do to help shape and prepare our children for the future. Teachers are responsible for educating 20 or more kids with varying personalities and learning styles on a daily basis, a task that needs to be applauded.

Over the years, I have spent many hours volunteering in classrooms and chaperoning field trips and find my level participation small in comparison to the time and dedication of our teachers.  My volunteering experience has given me a whole-heartedly appreciation of our teacher's efforts. I have participated in and helped organize different school events and as a room mom coordinated gift card purchases, snacks, had the children write special notes for the teachers and more. This year my school PTA has put together a day-by-day list of ideas to show your continued support and appreciation for your teachers (see the featured article below). No matter what you or your school decides to do for teacher appreciation week, take the time to tell your teacher thanks for all they do.

A Week of Appreciation For Our Teachers

"The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book"

(BUILT IN) (Icons/Graphics) schoolbooks.jpg

Here are some very simple day-by-day ideas to help make your teachers really feel appreciated. Theses tips will spread joy throughout the week.

~Compliments of Rosa Parks Elementary PTA

MONDAY: Bring a note or card for your teacher thanking them for all their hard work and dedication. This can be from the parent but it's nice to include something from the kids as well.

TUESDAY: Bring in a flower from your garden or the store.

WEDNESDAY: Bring in a school supply for the classroom such as: crayons, stickers, colored copy paper, pencils, glue sticks, post-it notes, highlighters, tissue, anti-bacterial wipes, hand gel etc.

THURSDAY: Sports day - bring in a ball, jump rope, hula hoop etc.

FRIDAY: Bring in one of your teachers "favorites". Choose something that relates to their favorite snack or a gift card to their favorite store or hobby.

Don't know what their "favorites" are? Don't be shy! Just ask them.

Make this a special week for your teachers and have fun!
